American Decay is a set of photos that speaks to the current political climate of the United States of America. We are seeing the decline in capitalism in part due to the global pandemic. The coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2 has wreaked havoc on our nation exposing the short comings of our capitalist system. Meanwhile people are rising up all across the nation against systemic racism and police brutality. While many cities are trying to dismantle white supremacy in the system and in the hearts of individual citizens our government seems to be sliding in more overt fascism. Even though there has been enough anti-racist work over the years to get the movement to the point and scale that it is currently at, there are people who still enjoy the benefit of white supremacy. Some silently enjoying their privilege and others violently grasping to be included in it. The current regime and many of it’s supporters have moved from covert to overt fascism and racism. I believe they are the dying cough of the old way grasping for air, trying to stay alive, but you can’t stop the revolution. I believe that we will win. I know that we will win. This is the falling of an empire. This is American Decay.
